How is this my job?? I have been wanting to go to Sicily ever since, Diana, my wedding planner extraordinaire told me that Sicily reminds her of Capri 50 years ago. The authenticity of eastern Sicily has me literally drooling. To be able to go seek out some of the region’s peasant food dishes, on the ground with local insider knowledge is a dream.
I am partnering with the specialty food tour company Via Rosa, owned by Elizabeth Minchilli. If you aren’t familiar with Elizabeth, she is an ex-Pat who has lived in Rome and Umbria for over 20 years and leads the best food tours of Italy. The dates are September 7-13th, which I love as the mad rush of summer will be over but the gorgeous sunny warm days won’t be. I will be hosting this tour, so if you want to come hang out with me and eat and drink and meander your way through Sicily, then this is your chance.
We will also have a regional guide with us, who will open the doors to the off the beaten path gems to this side of the island.
The small island of Ortigia, will be our home base and we’ll be staying at a lovely boutique hotel overlooking the sea and within walking distance to some of the best spots.
The days are going to go something like this…. Walks to the local market to try regional specialties, cooking classes, trips to farms and olive groves and almond groves, where we get to dine under the shade of the trees. Granita tasting in old town Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, cheese making and olive oil tasting and walks around the beautiful countryside of eastern Sicily. We will be touring ancient ruins and lingering over long lunches eating some of the best food in Italy with produce grown in the famed soil surrounding Mt. Etna.
The brochure and link to Book are found here. There are only 12 spots and I am giving my loyal paid subscribers the first opportunity to book.
So if eating, drinking and learning about food and Sicily sounds as dreamy to you as it does to me, then this is your chance.
